Biography

For years I suffered from mystery stomach pains and problems.  Visits to the Doctor and sometimes even hospital did not help diagnose the problem.  It was only when I was in my early teens that I discovered I was allergic to tomatoes having kept a food diary for several weeks.  I now avoid tomatoes like the plague and have been upset-tummy free for many years (apart from when I get caught out by those “hidden” tomatoes you sometimes find in things like certain sweets or crisp flavourings).

I have a son and two beautiful daughters, and discovered that my eldest daughter and son suffer the same condition as me when it comes to any food containing tomato.   Not wanting my children to go without all the wonderful tomato-based foods that are available, I set to work to come up with an alternative, and thus Ally’s Tomato-Free Sauce was born!

It took many months of development and testing to get the look and taste just right!  My children and I can now enjoy a whole variety of foods that I spent 20 years avoiding!  We all think it is great, and hope you do to.

UPDATE: We had to stop our old direct to consumer website due to the excessive number of breakages experienced during delivery, and because of the need to improve the recipes of our products following feedback from potential customers who suffer with celery and gluten allergies. The arrival of our son signalled the perfect time to temporarily halt production to make those improvements. We will now be using Royal Mail 2nd class delivery and have drastically improved packaging to prevent breakages. We have improved the recipe so celery and gluten allergy sufferers can also now enjoy Ally’s Tomato-Free sauces. This process took a lot longer than we would have liked, but now we are back for good! (hopefully!)

I can’t believe i have found your website. I have been allergic since I was born really. I used to have ketchup then massive blisters would appear in my mouth that would turn in to ulcers. As I have got older the allergy has got worse. It now gives me blisters in my eyes, knocks my immune system out, and my throat starts to close and stomach ache from hell. Doctor wanted to give me an epi pen but have now decided against it.

I am so glad to find your website! We just found out one of our daughters is allergic to tomatoes. She had stomach aches often, and she had been misdiagnosed for years. Finally we sought an allergist and found out she is allergic to tomatoes, as well as a few other food/spices.Thanks so much for all you are doing! I am having a bit of a tough time trying to adjust my cooking, so this site has been quite helpful! 🙂

Hi, my husband has a very severe intolerance to tomatoes since childhood. His symptoms include diarrhea, indegestion, bloating, and pure pain in abdomen. Since I met him I have had to relearn to cook dinners that do not include tomatoes at all he is very good at knowing what product to buy. I had to learn that even the most minute amount to tomato powder in some sort of mix will cause a bad reaction. He lives tomato free but sometimes he wishes to have foods he used to love. like spaghetti, meatloaf, lasagna, etc. I was definatel interested in your products and will have to give them a try if I can get him to try them he is so leary of things like this. Because he has come to expect if it is red he cant eat it. lol. Anyway thanks for the option for a product that might at least let him enjoy the dishes he misses.

      Hi Diane,

I can SO relate to your husband’s situation. I was EXACTLY the same! The whole reason I decided to develop Ally’s No Tomato Sauce was because my daughter (Ally) has the same problem too! I didn’t want her to have to go through her life avoiding all those wonderful foods that I have missed out on for so long. With Ally’s No Tomato Sauce, we can now enjoy a far wider range of meals (including home made baked beans, spaghetti bolognese, lasagne, pizza etc.). Thank you for your comments. It’s good to know we are not the only ones!
